How Strong Was Hercules? – This Might Surprise You!

How Strong Was Hercules?

Considered to be the strongest of all of Zeus’ children, Hercules was exceptionally strong even though he was just a Demi-god. It was said that he was so strong that even most of the Gods can’t best him in strength but how strong exactly was the Demi-god, Hercules?

The Greek hero, Hercules, was one of the strongest beings in the world during his time. His strength was only second to that of his father, Zeus, and almost no other God could best him in strength.

Hercules was incredibly strong even as a Demi-god. He was so strong that the only being that was stronger than him was his father, Zeus, who was the strongest being in the entire cosmos during his rule. With that said, exactly how strong was the amazing Greek hero, Hercules?

How Strong Was Hercules?

To say that Hercules was a strong man seems like an understatement as the Demi-god was stronger than even a majority of the Gods in the Greek pantheon. He was so strong that it was believed that only Zeus could best him in strength.

How Did Hercules Get His Strength?

Hercules was already gifted with strength and endurance when he was born due to his divine parentage to the King of the Gods, Zeus. The new-born Hercules was strong but what people don’t know is that his strength was boosted further by the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena.

Not long after Hercules was born, his mother, Alcmene, left the baby Hercules in the woods to prevent the Queen of the Gods, Hera, from finding him. The Goddess was hell-bent on killing the child as he was a product of Zeus’ adultery.

The Goddess of Wisdom, Athena, found the baby Hercules in the woods and decided to help him. She brought him to Hera, telling her that he was a random orphan that she picked up and needed sustenance due to his absent mother.

Hera agreed to feed the baby but when Hercules suckled on her breasts, his strength was so powerful that it caused immense pain to the Goddess. It was believed that the milk spilled from the Goddess’ breasts is now the Milky Way that we reside in.

The Queen of the Gods would then pass the child back to Athena, but Hercules was still hungry for more. Athena then decided to feed Hercules herself and let the infant suckle on her breast for sustenance.

Unknown to the Goddess, this actually amplified the child’s strength substantially as he was being fed a part of a God. Other than this incident, Hercules’ strength comes mostly from himself and his connection with Zeus.

How Did Hercules Show His Strength?

The son of Zeus made many efforts, intentionally and not, during his lifetime to show off his incredible strength. He was so strong that he single-handedly killed two snakes that were sent to kill him not long after his birth.

That was just the start of his demonstration as he continues to show unmeasurable feats of strengths during his lifetime. Not only did he have incredible physical strength, but his inner strength was incredible as well, enduring many hardships in his life.

When Hercules was abandoned by his mother to save him from the wrath of Hera, he was saved by Athena who brought him to Hera in the disguise as a random orphan. Athena told Hera that the orphan required sustenance so the Queen of the Gods complied by feeding him.

Hercules then suckled onto the Goddess’ breasts just to accidentally overdo it and cause pain to her. When she was startled by the baby Hercules, it was said that the milk that spilled from her breast shot out into the galaxy and formed the Milky Way.

During his twelve famous labors, Hercules would face beasts that were ferocious and powerful on their own accord, only to be defeated by the Demi-god by his strength and wits. One of the most impressive feats was his victory against the invulnerable Nemean Lion.

The Nemean Lion was said to be impervious to all weapons but that didn’t stop Hercules at all. He lured the lion into a cave and strangled it to death with his bare hands, an impressive feat of strength.

He then skinned the lion and wore the pelt as his armor. Another feat of strength was when Hercules carried the world on his shoulders as a temporary replacement for Atlas. He was the strongest indeed.

Was Hercules Stronger Than Zeus?

Hercules was a very strong being, even stronger than most Gods though he was just a Demi-god. Some believed him to be the strongest but that isn’t true.

His father, Zeus, was many folds stronger than him, even after his ascension to Godhood. Zeus was the King of all Gods and he rules over immortals and mortals alike.

Some even believed that the powers of every other being were bestowed onto them by the blessings of Zeus, allowing him to retract them as he pleased. With that said, Hercules was considered to be the strongest child of Zeus by many as an overall warrior.

He wasn’t just a brute and was smart enough in warfare which made him a good general to lead armies into battle as well. Everything below and above the heavens was of Zeus’ domain and none can be stronger than him while in his jurisdiction.

Zeus was so strong that he could easily win the entire Greek pantheon combined.

Conclusion

Hercules, the Son of Zeus, was an exceptionally strong man even though he was just a Demi-god. He was so strong that even a majority of the Gods cannot best him in strength, saved for his father, Zeus.

He showed his strength through many feats ever since his birth as he was born with incredible strength and endurance. An incident with the Goddess of Wisdom, Athena, further amplified his powers as he was fed her breast milk when young.

The Greek hero was strong but he was never stronger than his own father, the King of the Gods, Zeus. Everything under and over the heavens was ruled by Zeus and none can be more powerful than him.
